Match by product tag

Group every product that carries a specific tag. This is the most popular Auto Group method because tags are easy to manage in Shopify.

Set it up

Choose "Match by product tag"

Group products → Create group → Auto Groups → Match by product tag.

Enter the tag

Type or pick the tag to match (e.g. summer-shirt). OPTIS previews every active product with that tag.

Preview the matching products; untick any you want to exclude

Name + style + save

Set the Group name, Option name, and display style, then Save.

Keeping it in sync

When you add the tag to another product, it joins the group automatically. Remove the tag, and it leaves. New products created with the tag join on their own.

Naming tip: use a dedicated tag for grouping (e.g. group-summer-shirt) so it doesn't overlap with tags you use for navigation or collections.
