Match by metafield

Group products that share the same metafield value - ideal when you already store a "model", "style code", or "family" on your products as a metafield.

How it works

You choose a product metafield and a value. Every active product whose metafield equals that value joins the group.

Example: metafield custom.model = "RX-100" groups every product that belongs to model RX-100, regardless of title, tag, or collection.

Set it up

Choose "Match by metafield"

Group products → Create group → Auto Groups → Match by metafield.

Pick the metafield + value

Select the metafield from the list of your store's product metafields (both defined and ad-hoc metafields are offered, so you don't have to type the namespace/key by hand), then enter the value to match.

Preview the products that share the metafield value

Name + style + save

Set the Group name, Option name, display style, exclude anything you don't want, and Save.

Re-syncs automatically when a product's metafield value changes to or from the target value.

The match is exact. Make sure the value you enter matches what's stored on your products (including capitalization and spacing).
